SUMMARY:Book Club with the Young Professionals - No Bullsh*t Leadership
DESCRIPTION:Sharpen your leadership skills with the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals at our next book club meeting! This month\, we’re reading No Bullsh*t Leadership by Chris Hirst. \nHirst has spent more than a decade in CEO roles\, including as Global CEO of Havas Creative Network. Drawing on that experience\, he makes a simple argument: leadership isn’t a club for elites or a title handed out with an expensive degree. It’s a practical skill anyone can learn\, and it comes down to getting things done and making things better. \nThe book is a step-by-step working manual built on a no-nonsense premise: skip the consultants\, the grand visions\, and the mission statements. It offers principles and actionable steps that apply whether you’re running a small business\, leading a community initiative\, coaching a team\, or managing inside a large organization. \nFor YP members stepping into their first management role\, leading projects without formal authority\, or wanting to be more effective in how they show up for their teams\, this discussion is built for you. Come ready to talk about what leadership looks like when you strip out the buzzwords\, and which of Hirst’s ideas you can put to work the next day. \nJoin us for real discussion and exceptional networking with ambitious\, like-minded professionals who are serious about growth. Everyone is welcome\, whether you finish the book or just want to be part of the conversation. \nWHERE TO GET THE BOOK: Amazon

SUMMARY:Mind Meld with the Young Professionals
DESCRIPTION:TOPIC: Leadership\n \nJoin the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals for our December Mind Meld as we explore “Leadership.” You don’t need a title to lead. This open discussion is about what leadership looks like at every stage of a career\, from guiding a project to influencing a team to earning trust before you ever have direct reports. \nWe’ll talk about what leadership looks like day to day: communicating clearly\, giving and receiving feedback\, making decisions when the answer isn’t obvious\, and leading peers and people more senior than you. We’ll also unpack the difference between managing tasks and leading people. \nThis informal round table invites you to share what’s working\, where you feel stuck\, and which leaders have shaped how you lead today. Whether you’re stepping into your first leadership role\, leading without formal authority\, or looking to sharpen the skills you already have\, this is a space to learn from other young professionals who are figuring it out in real time. \nBring your thoughts\, experiences\, and questions to share with your YP community. We look forward to seeing you on Zoom!

SUMMARY:Book Club with the Young Professionals - Take the Leap: Change Your Career\, Change Your Life
DESCRIPTION:Kick off the new year with the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals at our next book club meeting! This month\, we’re reading Take the Leap: Change Your Career\, Change Your Life by Sara Bliss. \nBliss is a New York Times bestselling author and a Forbes contributor who covers career pivots. For this book\, she gathered the stories of more than 60 people who made a bold professional change. Among them: an attorney who became a surf instructor\, a hairdresser who became a firefighter\, and a real estate agent who became an award-winning chef. Along the way\, she shares advice from well-known mentors\, including entrepreneur Barbara Corcoran and beauty founder Bobbi Brown. \nThe book reads like a career roadmap built from real examples. It’s about what it takes to move toward the work you actually want: taking a risk\, starting something new\, or simply deciding not to settle. \nFor YP members considering a career change\, eyeing a promotion into something new\, or just wondering what a bolder next chapter might look like\, this discussion is built for you. Come ready to talk about what holds people back from making a move\, and which of these stories you can borrow from the next day. \nJoin us for real discussion and exceptional networking with ambitious\, like-minded professionals who are serious about growth. Everyone is welcome\, whether you finish the book or just want to be part of the conversation. \nWHERE TO GET THE BOOK: Amazon

SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting: Helping Restore Ability
DESCRIPTION:Join the Chamber Ambassadors for a Ribbon Cutting with Helping Restore Ability.\n\nHelping Restore Ability (HRA) invites our friends\, community partners\, and supporters to celebrate a meaningful milestone with us as we approach 50 years of advancing independence for Texans. This special open house will include a ribbon-cutting\, gift-gathering celebration\, and proclamation recognizing HRA’s 50th anniversary.\n\nFounded in Arlington in 1977\, HRA is a nonprofit organization that helps children\, adults of all ages\, and veterans access the care and support they need to live safely and independently at home and remain connected to their communities. HRA provides agency-directed in-home attendant care across North Texas\, statewide financial management services for individuals who choose to hire and manage their own caregivers\, respite services for families caring for loved ones with dementia\, and assistance for eligible veterans and surviving spouses seeking VA Aid and Attendance benefits.\n\nThe event will also celebrate the renewal of HRA’s longtime Arlington office. Following an unexpected water leak\, the space underwent significant repairs and remodeling in late 2025 and early 2026. We are excited to welcome the community back into a refreshed space designed to better serve our clients\, caregivers\, employees\, and partners.\n\nAs Valentine’s Day approaches\, guests are invited to share some love with HRA by joining the celebration and contributing an item from our organizational wish list\, if they choose. Together\, we will celebrate a renewed office\, five decades of service\, and the many people who have helped make greater independence possible for Texans with disabilities and their families.\n\nWe welcome all to join our celebration!
