SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting: Arlington ISD - Michael Glaspie Field Athletic Complex at Martin HS
DESCRIPTION:Join the Chamber Ambassadors for a Ribbon Cutting with Arlington ISD – Michael Glaspie Field Athletic Complex at Martin HS. \n\n \nMichael Glaspie Field Athletic Complex is the new athletic field at Martin High School was included in the 2019 Bond because the district needs three competition fields for its six high schools. Arlington ISD owns Wilemon Field at Sam Houston High School and Cravens Field at Lamar High School\, but it rented UTA Maverick Stadium for its third competition field.\n\nThe stadium honors Rev. Michael Glaspie of Mount Olive Baptist Church\, who has served Arlington for over 40 years as a community leader\, AISD Board Trustee\, City Councilman\, and mayoral candidate.\nThe new stadium\, designed by VLK Architects\, will include approximately 10\,000 seats\, a larger press box\, locker rooms\, restrooms\, and concessions. Architects were careful to consider the campus’s existing layout\, neighbors\, traffic flow – cars\, school buses\, and pedestrians – and parking in their design. They have included a landscape buffer and fencing between the stadium and neighboring homes and will utilize modern LED lighting. The LED lighting is significantly better than traditional lighting in that it can be directed into the stadium and onto the playing surface more efficiently\, has considerably less spillage from the venue\, and can be turned on and off quickly.\n\n\nWe welcome all to join our celebration!

SUMMARY:The Wednesday Mind Meld with the Young Professionals
DESCRIPTION:TOPIC: Discipline vs Motivation \nJoin the Greater Arlington Chamber Young Professionals for our next Mind Meld on October 8th! This month\, we’re diving into the fascinating topic of “Discipline vs. Motivation” In this open and informal discussion\, we’ll openly explore the difference between relying on inspiration and emotion to fuel action\, versus cultivating consistent habits and self-control to achieve long-term goals. Motivation is often fleeting—ignited by excitement or external rewards—while discipline is the foundation of sustained progress\, especially when enthusiasm fades. This discussion invites young professionals to reflect on how they balance both forces in their work and personal growth\, emphasizing that success is often built not when we’re most motivated\, but when we’re most committed. \nBring your thoughts\, experiences\, and questions to share with your YP community and learn best practices for leading upwards.

SUMMARY:Chamber Night at the Levitt Pavilion
DESCRIPTION:Join Chamber staff and members at the Levitt Pavilion for a free concert by The Rosemont Kings with Parker & Pat Duo! \nThe Rosemont Kings: Originating from a single block in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas\, TX\, The Rosemont Kings are a nine-piece band bonded by a love for classic soul and funk. The Kings layer 3-piece horns onto Stax inspired grooves with a dash of Texas Blues\, and top it off with the smooth vocals of front man Kraig Loyd to create a sound that encapsulates the idea of “feel good” music. \nIt was in 2016\, shortly after legendary musician Prince died\, that a small group of neighbors from Oak Cliff came together to reminisce and find comfort in music. The friends didn’t know it then\, but that impromptu jam session was the start of something incredibly funky. \nThe three neighbors formed a loose band that consisted of Robbie Good on bass\, Richie Heffernan on drums and Bart Thrasher on guitar. At first\, they called themselves Doghouse and only played Budos Band-inspired instrumentals\, hoping to be able to one day add horns to the mix. Shortly after\, Kraig Loyd\, another neighbor from the end of the block on Rosemont\, joined the mix to improvise lyrics and harmonies\, and The Rosemont Kings was born. \nParker & Pat Duo: Patrick Pombuena and Gabriel Parker are a DFW-based dynamic duo! With Parker on trumpet and Pombuena on guitar\, these two deliver an intimate performance that provides a personal take on R&B\, soul\, jazz and pop classics. \n  \nSchedule for Chamber Night: \n7:30 PM – Parker & Pat Duo\n8:30 PM – The Rosemont Kings \n
