SUMMARY:YP Book Club Book Review – The Body Keeps Score
DESCRIPTION:Join the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals for a powerful and thought-provoking book club discussion as we dive into The Body Keeps the Score by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk. This groundbreaking work explores how trauma—whether from childhood\, relationships\, or work-related stress—can shape the mind and body in ways we often don’t recognize. \nDr. van der Kolk\, one of the world’s leading trauma experts\, combines scientific research\, real-life case studies\, and decades of clinical experience to show how trauma literally reshapes our brains and nervous systems. But this isn’t just a book about problems—it’s a hopeful roadmap to healing. Through methods like mindfulness\, movement\, neurofeedback\, and deeper emotional awareness\, The Body Keeps the Score gives us tools to reconnect with ourselves and reclaim our sense of control. \nFor young professionals navigating high-pressure environments and seeking sustainable ways to care for their mental and emotional well-being\, this book offers invaluable insights. Whether you’ve experienced trauma firsthand or simply want to better understand how to support others\, this discussion will be enlightening\, compassionate\, and deeply relevant. \nCome ready for meaningful conversation\, shared reflection\, and connection with a community that values both personal growth and professional resilience. Let’s explore how healing happens—and why it matters. \nWHERE TO GET THE BOOK: Amazon | Audible

SUMMARY:Coaching Hour – Confident Networking
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Chamber on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 3:00-4:00 for training and guidance aimed at helping you develop\, grow\, and transform in and out of the office. \nChamber member Business Coaches and Subject Matter Experts will provide workshops\, assessment tools\, and engaging presentations to improve your critical thinking & decision-making skills\, help you identify obstacles & achieve goals\, manage projects more efficiently & teams more effectively\, and more! \nSPEAKER: Caroline Chiaia with Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop \nTOPIC: The Introvert’s Guide to Navigate Networking \nDESCRIPTION: How do we get past our own mental roadblocks to put ourselves out there and represent our businesses when we would rather melt into the walls or hide in the bathroom?  How can we get through networking meetings and not just be memorable\, but reserve our social battery? This session shares practical lessons learned through real-world experience\, including navigating social missteps and pushing through uncomfortable situations. It is designed to help introverts\, and even those more comfortable in social settings\, build social confidence\, strengthen their networking approach\, and develop a personal brand that feels authentic and sustainable. \nSPEAKER BIO: Caroline Chiaia is the General Manager of the Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop in North Arlington. She has working in bakeries for the past 25 years starting as a grocery store cake decorator and building her skills to become a high-end cake decorator and then the manager of a pie shop. But more important than job history\, she had a very traumatic childhood and has worked to conquer her personal demons to the point where she has become an icon in the Chamber of Commerce. While being an introvert is a protection mechanism from childhood\, she has learned to reach beyond her personal comfort zone for the sake of higher goals and ambitions. These lessons were no school curriculum but the lessons of life and she looks forward to sharing those lessons with others who\, like her\, found networking to be mildly terrifying at the start. \nInterested in being one of our fantastic speakers?  Submit your application here.
