Arlington Chamber of Commerce to Recognize Nolan Ryan with Prestigious Star Award at Annual Meeting

Two long-standing Community Leaders to Be Inducted into Arlington Business Hall of Fame

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce announced today that the Star Award recipient for 2013 would be Nolan Ryan, CEO of the Texas Rangers. Nolan Ryan will accept the award at the Arlington Chamber’s Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner on September 11, 2013 at the Arlington Convention Center.

The Arlington Chamber’s Star Award is the highest recognition given by the Chamber of Commerce to an individual or organization for their significant contributions to the community. Nolan Ryan played a key role in recreating one of the most revered franchises in Major League Baseball after helping them out of near bankruptcy to their current preeminent position.

“Nolan Ryan is a tribute to professional baseball, the Texas Rangers and the Arlington community,” said Wes Jurey, President and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.  “We are honored to recognize Nolan Ryan with the 2013 Star Award. Mr. Ryan’s legendary Hall of Fame Baseball career and his business leadership with the Texas Rangers are unparalleled in performance and character.”

During the Arlington Chamber’s Annual event, several individuals will be inducted into the Arlington Business Hall of Fame. The 2013 inductees are recognized business leaders clearly identified with Arlington’s development; individuals who were instrumental in the growth of the community, and acknowledged for the significance of their business accomplishments and contributions. The 2013 inductees will be Dr. Norman Lee Robinson, Senior Pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church and Arnold E. Petsche, founder of A.E. Petsche Co.

• Reverend Robinson has been pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church since 1966 leading the congregation in worship from 17 followers to the more than 10,000 members today.
• Arnold Petsche founded A.E. Petsche in 1996 and has built it to be the leading supplier of high-performance wire and cable for the aerospace industry.

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner will commence at 5:30 pm on September 11 with a reception followed by a dinner, program and awards’ ceremony. The keynote speaker for the evening will be Phil Wilson, Executive Director of the Texas Department of Transportation.
