Salute to small businesses



Shining a light on key drivers of the local economic engine is the sole focus of a May 23 luncheon at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel hosted by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and the North Texas Small Business Development Center.


The event, with a theme of “Spirit of America: 2013 Salute to Small Business,” will honor small businesses representing 72 counties from North Texas.

Chamber CEO Wes Jurey said in a news release, “We are proud to recognize the significant accomplishments of both of our award recipients: Bob Moore Construction in the for-profit category and Girls Inc. of Tarrant County in the nonprofit category.”

Accepting these honors will be Mike Moore, CEO of Bob Moore Construction, and Jennifer Limas, CEO of Girls Inc. of Tarrant County.

Other awards will include small-business person of the year, owner of the year, Women in Business Champion of the Year; veterans business of the year and minority business of the year. Winners are from Dallas, Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, Denton, Marshall and Rowlett.

Deborah Ferguson from NBC 5 will serve as master of ceremonies, and the 2012 business of the year winner Jeff Williams, president of Graham & Associates, will present the keynote address.
