New and expanding businesses that invest and create employment opportunities in Arlington may be eligible for various types of financial incentives. Some are available throughout the city, while some are targeted to certain industries or areas that have been identified as integral to the economic vitality of the city.
The City of Arlington may grant tax abatements to new or expanding businesses for up to 10 years. Abatements typically range from 25 to 90 percent of the municipal ad valorem tax liability for an investment. Applications for tax abatements are considered on a case-by-case basis. The Arlington Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development staff is eager to assist companies in evaluating their eligibility.
The Arlington Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the adoption of the tax exemption of Freeport inventory by the Arlington Independent School District. AISD joins the City and Tarrant County in exempting inventory that is or will be forwarded out of Texas within 175 days of the date it is acquired or brought into Texas and is in Texas for assembly, storage, manufacture, repair, maintenance, processing or fabrication purposes, thereby creating significant cost savings for eligible companies.
Enterprise Zone incentives are available to companies that locate in one of the City’s two enterprise zones or in a qualifying Census Block Group and that meet certain requirements. In addition to more aggressive municipal incentives, companies may also qualify for financial incentives from the state of Texas.
Central Arlington Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District
The TIF District exists to provide a funding mechanism to encourage redevelopment in Arlington’s Downtown. Businesses or projects can receive reimbursement for qualifying improvements.
